This message reveals that the Bible speaks of multiple “churches,” and not every use of the word refers to the Church of today. Israel was a “church in the wilderness,” and the Gospels describe a kingdom church preparing for Christ’s earthly reign, but the Apostle Paul reveals a new, previously hidden Church—the Body of Christ—formed by the revelation of the mystery. This present‑day Church began with Paul and operates under grace, receiving its doctrine, hope, and instructions from his epistles. Understanding these distinctions helps believers rightly divide Scripture and live out God’s will for today.

The Apostle Paul recounts, in this teaching, how he once violently persecuted believers, until the risen Christ confronted him on the road to Damascus. Struck down by a heavenly light, Paul realized Jesus truly was the risen Lord, and in that moment he believed and was saved. Christ then commissioned him to be the apostle to the Gentiles, opening people’s eyes to the gospel that brings forgiveness, freedom from Satan’s power, and a heavenly inheritance. Paul’s bold testimony nearly persuaded King Agrippa, reminding us that salvation is not “almost,” but comes only by fully trusting in Christ’s finished work.

In this study, the Apostle Paul explains that his own salvation serves as a pattern for how God saves people today—entirely by His exceedingly abundant grace, mercy, and longsuffering toward sinners. Once a blasphemer and violent persecutor, Paul was transformed by Christ and entrusted with the gospel of grace, showing that God can save and use anyone, regardless of their past. We see here the Apostle Paul warning the Galatians of there being no room for error when it comes to the gospel, because mixing law and grace endangers people’s eternal destiny. Paul is astonished that they were so quickly turning from God’s grace to a different gospel—one that added law‑keeping to faith and thus perverted the true message of salvation. Paul insists that anyone who preaches anything other than the gospel he received directly from Christ, that messenger must be rejected as accursed. True servants of Christ are to stand firmly for the pure gospel of grace, seeking to please God rather than people.

In this lesson, the Apostle Paul describes the paradox of gospel ministry, where a servant of Christ faces intense hardships yet continues with endurance, purity, and Spirit‑empowered love. Though beaten, imprisoned, exhausted, and often treated with dishonor, Paul remained faithful so that nothing in his life would discredit the gospel. He carried out his mission through spiritual virtues, using righteousness as his weapon. Despite being poor and seemingly insignificant, Paul made many spiritually rich, showing that those who possess nothing in this world may yet obtain all things in Christ.

The Apostle Paul teaches that believers can endure suffering because God places the treasure of the gospel in weak “earthen vessels,” making His power—not ours—clearly seen. By focusing on “things which are not seen,” rather than on temporary troubles, Paul saw his afflictions as “light” and “momentary,” knowing they produced an eternal weight of glory—a perspective that empowers believers to persevere with hope and purpose.

In this message, the Apostle Paul explains that the Body of Christ has a distinct commission in this present dispensation—one centered on proclaiming the gospel of the grace of God and making known the revelation of the mystery. Unlike Israel’s Great Commission, which involved law‑keeping, water baptism, signs, and an earthly kingdom hope, the Church today is sent as ambassadors for Christ, offering reconciliation through faith alone in His finished work. Our twofold mission is to share the gospel of grace with the lost and to help believers understand God’s present‑day program revealed through Paul.

This teaching shows that the “Great Commission” passages form one unified commission given specifically to Israel, rooted in God’s prophetic, kingdom‑focused program. Jesus sent the eleven to begin at Jerusalem—teaching everything He commanded under the law, requiring water baptism for salvation, and also performing miraculous signs. This commission operated under Israel’s covenant program, not the present‑day dispensation of grace. Confusion arises when believers today follow this kingdom commission instead of the Apostle Paul’s grace commission for the Church, the Body of Christ.

The Apostle Paul urges believers, in this study, to recognize that “now is the day of salvation,” meaning this present age of grace is a unique, God‑given window in which anyone can be saved simply by trusting Christ. God stands ready empower His people as they carry out the ministry of reconciliation, urging the lost to come to Him while there is still time, because judgment is coming. Paul contrasts the two groups humanity—those who are perishing and those who are saved—and emphasizes that the power of the Cross alone rescues sinners and transforms lives.
