The world, which does not know our Savior or respect or live by the Word of God, often thinks believers are crazy for living by faith in Christ and for eternal things we cannot see. We see in this message that the Apostle Paul faced the same accusation of being “beside” himself, yet his zeal flowed from the love of Christ, which constrained him to live for the One Who died and rose again. That love reshaped how Paul viewed everything: himself, his purpose, and even other people—as eternal souls for whom Christ died.

In this episode, we learn that Christ transforms a person, making them a new creation in Christ—where old things pass away and all things become new. God not only gives believers a new life, hope, and identity, but also places them into the Body of Christ, entrusting them with the ministry of reconciliation to proclaim that Christ’s death and resurrection have made salvation available to all. Because God has already done everything necessary to reconcile the world to Himself, believers now serve as available ambassadors for Christ, representing heaven and urging people to “be ye reconciled to God.”

This lesson illustrates how Christ descended into the “abyss” of human sin to save us, emphasizing that the gospel is God’s costly rescue, not human self‑improvement. Believers, now reconciled to God, are entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation, serving as His ambassadors to share the message of salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection. The Apostle Paul urges Christians to “receive not the grace of God in vain” by living only for themselves, but to labor with God, knowing He alone gives spiritual growth and uses our efforts, even when unseen.

The Apostle Paul urges believers, in this study, to recognize that “now is the day of salvation,” meaning this present age of grace is a unique, God‑given window in which anyone can be saved simply by trusting Christ. God stands ready empower His people as they carry out the ministry of reconciliation, urging the lost to come to Him while there is still time, because judgment is coming. Paul contrasts the two groups humanity—those who are perishing and those who are saved—and emphasizes that the power of the Cross alone rescues sinners and transforms lives.

The Apostle Paul teaches that believers can endure suffering because God places the treasure of the gospel in weak “earthen vessels,” making His power—not ours—clearly seen. We learn in this episode that though Paul was pressed, perplexed, persecuted, and struck down, God never abandoned him, continually sustaining him through every hardship. By focusing on “things which are not seen,” rather than on temporary troubles, Paul saw his afflictions as “light” and “momentary,” knowing they produced an eternal weight of glory—a perspective that empowers believers to persevere with hope and purpose.

In this lesson, the Apostle Paul describes the paradox of gospel ministry, where a servant of Christ faces intense hardships yet continues with endurance, purity, and Spirit‑empowered love. Though beaten, imprisoned, exhausted, and often treated with dishonor, Paul remained faithful so that nothing in his life would discredit the gospel. He carried out his mission through spiritual virtues, using righteousness as his weapon. Despite being poor and seemingly insignificant, Paul made many spiritually rich, showing that those who possess nothing in this world may yet obtain all things in Christ.

In this lesson, we see how the Thessalonian believers powerfully echoed the gospel of grace, not because of human eloquence, but because the Holy Spirit carried the message with power and assurance to those who heard it. Their transformed lives, boldness in affliction, and joyful service made them models whose testimony thundered out “in every place,” spreading the gospel by both land and sea. They had turned away from idols, began serving the living and true God, and lived in expectant hope for the Rapture return of Christ, Who will deliver us from “the wrath to come.”

From God’s point of view, there are only two categories or camps of people in this world, the “saved” and the “perishing.” As we spread the good news of salvation and are a witness of Christ and His cross, the Apostle Paul said that WE are unto God a sweet fragrance of Christ, based NOT on the success of the response to our evangelistic efforts, but on our faithfulness to make the gospel known. In this episode, we will examine our role as Spirit-led ambassadors for Christ in rescuing others from a lost eternity.
