Faith, the Apostle Paul explains, is simply taking God at His Word—trusting that what He promises, He performs. We are reminded in this teaching that Abraham was justified not by works but by believing God, and in the same way our faith in Christ’s death and resurrection is counted for righteousness apart from any human effort. True faith rests in God’s power to give life to the dead and to save the ungodly purely by grace. Because of Christ’s finished work, all who believe are fully secure in Him and transformed as they continue to walk by faith.

Redemption, as this episode shows, means that Christ entered the slave market of sin, paid the full ransom with His own blood, and set us free forever. Scripture demonstrates through several terms that He not only bought us but removed us from bondage entirely, carrying us far away from our former slavery. Just as Israel was redeemed from Egypt by blood and God’s power, believers today are redeemed from sin’s chains and forgiven all trespasses through Christ’s sacrifice. Since we have been bought with a price, we are called to glorify Him with grateful, transformed lives.

Glorification is the goal of God’s salvation and is about our eternal hope in Christ. We learn in this message that glorification is the final stage of salvation, when believers are freed from the very presence of sin and receive resurrected, glorified bodies that perfectly reflect Christ’s glory. The Apostle Paul teaches that present sufferings are insignificant compared to the glory to be revealed. The Holy Spirit within us guarantees our future glorification and enables us to wait with patient, confident hope for what God has promised.

This study explores the Apostle Paul’s teaching in Romans 6, where he talks about change for the believer, and the different path we can take for our lives so that we no longer walk in sin. Sanctification is the lifelong process in which believers, already united with Christ in His death and resurrection, learn to live out the freedom from sin that God has already given them. Paul instructs that through our union with Christ, we have been given real power to resist sin’s rule and walk in newness of life, as His grace transforms our daily choices and makes our bodies instruments of righteousness rather than tools of sin.

Justification, we learn in this lesson, means that God declares guilty sinners righteous the moment they believe in Christ, not because of anything they earn, but entirely by His grace. The Apostle Paul explains that all people have sinned and fall short of God’s glory, yet God has revealed a new way of righteousness, made possible through Christ’s sacrificial death. When we trust that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, God imputes Christ’s righteousness to our account—satisfying His justice, removing all condemnation, and allowing us to live with confidence, gratitude, and the assurance of eternal life.

Jesus casts out a mute demon in Luke 11:14-26, enabling the man to speak and causing the crowd to marvel, yet some accuse Him of working by Beelzebub while others demand a heavenly sign. Jesus refutes the charge by showing that a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand and that He operates by the finger of God—proving the kingdom of God has come and that He is the stronger One who overpowers Satan and liberates his captives. Christ further warns that an unclean spirit may return with seven worse demons if the delivered person remains empty through mere reformation rather than true faith in Him.

In Luke 13:10-17, while teaching in a synagogue, Jesus sees a woman bent double for eighteen years by a “spirit of infirmity” that had bound her under Satan’s power. He ultimately restores her to an upright posture so that she glorifies God. The synagogue ruler indignantly objects to this healing on the Sabbath, but Jesus exposes his hypocrisy. The critics are put to shame while the people rejoice, and the miracle illustrates Christ’s complete authority over the satanic realm and the freedom He grants from spiritual bondage.

After the Transfiguration, in Mark 9:14-29, Jesus finds a desperate father whose only son is possessed by a demon that violently seizes him, and throws him into fires and bodies of water to destroy him, and which the disciples could not cast out due to their weak faith. When Jesus commands the unclean spirit to leave permanently, the demon departs, leaving the boy appearing dead until Jesus lifts him up and restores him, teaching the disciples that such deliverance requires dependence on God and not self-reliance.

In Mark 1:21-28, Jesus teaches with divine authority, when a man possessed by an unclean spirit cries out in fear, recognizing Him as the Holy One of God and asking if He has come to destroy the demons. Jesus rebukes the demon, and commands it to be silent and leave the man. The crowd is amazed at Jesus’ power over evil spirits. This account illustrates Christ’s supreme authority over the demonic realm, foreshadowing His ultimate victory over darkness and reminding us that He delivers those in spiritual bondage.

This episode recounts the story from Mark 5 in which Jesus, while hurrying through a crowd to heal Jairus’ dying daughter, is interrupted by an anonymous woman who had suffered a debilitating hemorrhage that left her ceremonially unclean, socially ostracized, and financially bankrupt after years of failed medical treatments. In desperate faith, she secretly touches the hem of His garment from behind and is instantly healed; Jesus commends her faith and sends her away in peace. The account draws a parallel to salvation—just as the woman could not heal herself, sinners are spiritually unclean and bankrupt but are made whole instantly by reaching out to Christ alone in faith and then sent forth to live in His peace.
