This episode illustrates how “walking as children of light” means living with awareness that our conduct before unbelievers can either illuminate the gospel or obscure it. In Ephesians 5:8, Paul contrasts what believers once were with what we instantly became at salvation. Therefore, we are to “walk as children of light,” shining brightly by bearing the Spirit’s fruit of goodness, righteousness, and truth—proving what is acceptable to the Lord, refusing fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness, and reproving sin by contrast, so that the light exposes evil, awakens the spiritually dead, and draws them to Christ, Who alone gives eternal light and salvation.
