The Apostle Paul stated we are members of one body and “members one of another.” Our ability to stand and grow in the Christian life is often because of the support and strength of others in the local church who help us and hold us up. In 2 Thessalonians 1, Paul thanks God for the Thessalonian church and boasts about them to other assemblies because their growing faith, abounding love toward each other, and patience and steadfastness amid tribulations—qualities that mark a God-honoring church. This message demonstrates that the true Church is not defined by buildings or outward success, but by believers who are “in Christ,” called according to God’s purpose.
