This study focuses on Psalm 8, as David marvels at God’s excellent name in all the earth and His glory above the heavens. David wonders why the Creator—who fashioned the moon and stars with His fingers—would be mindful of frail, mortal man, yet crown humanity with glory, honor, and dominion over all creation. The psalm is also messianic, pointing forward to Jesus Christ, who was made lower than the angels for a time, tasted death for every person, and will one day fully exercise dominion over His earthly kingdom, so that the Lord’s name is exalted in all the earth.
