Psalm 84 celebrates the joy of drawing near to God, portraying a pilgrim whose whole being longs for the presence of the living God in His temple. We discover here that the psalm applies to Israel’s hope in the millennial kingdom. But it also makes you think of our hope, as members of the Body of Christ, when we will enter His presence in heaven. Having trusted Christ as Savior, God’s desire is that we have the psalmist’s heart and passionate longing for the glory of that day. Just one day with the Lord “is better than a thousand” elsewhere, for those who will be with Him eternally.
