This study shows how Cain stands as the prototype of the unbeliever, offering God a self made, bloodless sacrifice that rejects God’s revealed way of approach, while Abel responds in obedient faith with the required offering of a firstborn lamb. When God accepts Abel and rejects Cain, Cain’s pride and anger boil over and he murders his righteous brother in the field. God confronts Cain, exposes his guilt, and sentences him to a life of wandering, marking him so others would not kill him. Abel, though murdered, still “speaks” through his faith, illustrating the enduring legacy of those who trust and obey God.
