In this teaching, we learn that because believers are “children of light,” we must not live with the spiritual indifference and blindness that characterizes the unbelieving world. The Apostle Paul contrasts those who are spiritually asleep—unaware of coming judgment—with believers who are called to stay awake, living with purpose and urgency because the Rapture could occur at any time. He urges Christians to protect our minds and hearts as we serve others and warn them of the coming Tribulation. Finally, Paul assures believers with the hope that God has not appointed us to wrath but to deliverance through Christ.
